As the temperatures in Michigan began to drop, things were definitely heating up last week at this year’s Annual FPA Experience Conference in sunny central Florida. It was here that our firm’s conference delegates quickly realized that the Financial Planning world and its Profession is a force to be admired and reckoned with.
Thousands of Certified Financial Planners, along with its next generation, converged upon the Orlando Florida Convention Center at the Annual Global Conference entitled “Transform Your World”. This exciting and education-packed conference was attended by individuals from around the world with representatives from 17 countries.
Each attendee came with the common goal of gaining knowledge and skills to better serve clients in their personal and financial lives. Every planner was challenged and actively encouraged to share best practices, and to be open to new ways of thinking in order to stay current with policies and strategies in this age of instant information and technology.
Thomas J. Rabaut, CFP® and George Barnhart, from TFG Advisors in Auburn Hills, had the exhilarating task of filling their daily schedules by selecting the most appropriate informational and learning sessions the conference had to offer. With over 75 live sessions available and only so many hours in the day, Tom and George strategically selected sessions on retirement planning, investments, practice management, and new government rulings affecting taxation. They purposefully orchestrated these sessions to mirror their firm’s philosophy of providing exceptional client experiences, increasing team knowledge, and streamlining business practices. With many pages of copious notes taken, Tom and George will now begin sharing those pearls of wisdom with their firm’s team members, as well with members of the FPA of Michigan, in order to enhance how we can better serve the future needs and dreams of our clients as well as our profession.
Understanding the fast paced world we live in and having the ability to continually make educated and informed decisions is critical as we partner with our clients and fellow FPA Members in our personal journeys. Truly, the FPA Experience this past week has certainly helped us along the way. We cannot wait for next year’s conference slated for Seattle, Washington on September 20-24, 2014. We hope to see more folks from the FPA of Michigan there!
Working and Learning alongside of you!
