It is an honor and privilege to be able to serve as president of the FPA of Michigan for 2012. We had a successful 2011 with many opportunities for education, networking, volunteering and promoting the financial planning profession. We had great success through expanding our mentorship program, offering bi-monthly networking events, and engaging members through valuable programs throughout the year. We have also grown our lunch and learn program in the Grand Rapids area through the efforts and engagement of our active members. We had wonderful opportunities to work with local communities through programs such as Gilda’s Club and Junior Achievement through out the year.
We would like to welcome our new Board Members who join us this year: Douglas Gross, Jeffery Nauta, Thaddeus Phelps, Thomas Rabaut and Troy Wyman. We thank them for their time and commitment to the FPA of Michigan.
As we begin a new year, I encourage you to become active in our Chapter. There are many ways to be involved, whether you become a member of a committee, volunteer at one of our community events, refer a sponsor or new member, become a mentor, or attend one of our many education programs. I challenge you to energize yourself and others around you to help continue to build value and advance the financial planning profession while supporting the efforts of the FPA of Michigan.
We will be providing tools, ideas and opportunities for you to participate this year. Watch for upcoming events, education programs, social mixers, lunch and learns, the launch of the FPA of Michigan Blog and other member benefits. Be sure to frequent our website www.fpami.com to keep up to date with all that is going on.
We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event. Let’s get energized for a great 2012.
Ryan B. Smith
President, FPA of Michigan
